This week officially marks the end of the ATAR exams for some of our Year 12 students, signalling the beginning of their lives beyond school. The General students are a few weeks ahead of them, and it’s fantastic to already see some of them working in the Denmark community, starting apprenticeships and other paid jobs. Many of our students secured employment before the school term ended, which is a testament to their dedication and the skills they developed here at the College. We are thrilled to celebrate their achievements at the awards ceremony on Friday, 15th November.

However, this doesn’t mean things have quietened down at the College, except perhaps a little in the dining hall! The Year 11’s are now in the final few weeks of their year, and the first of the ATAR exams have already begun. Please be aware that due to the shorter term for Year 11’s, most classes don’t finish assessments early. Therefore, it is crucial that student attendance continues right up until the end of week six, especially for those considering a Certificate III in Agriculture or Advanced Wool Handling.

We are also working on a modified program for the Year 10’s for the last few weeks of school to ensure they make the most of every day. The MESH subjects (Maths, English, Science, and HASS) are organising a cross-curricular excursion to survey beach pollution and analyse the types of plastic and other rubbish found.

Additionally, we are planning a number of hands-on activities to keep students engaged and learning, including some extra farm time towards the end of the year. It will be wonderful to have some extra-curricular time with the Year 10’s as we move towards Christmas.

With just five more weeks to go, let’s make the most of this time!
