Issue 6 2024 - Student Services
We are thrilled to announce and welcome our newly appointed Year 12 prefects to their roles for the upcoming school year! Congratulations Harry Leov, Jack Brown, Savannah Trevenen, Zac Butler, Tegan MacKenzie and Macey Seaman for making our Prefect team for 2025. After a thoughtful election process that involved both student and staff input, we’re proud to present this group of exceptional leaders who will represent our school community with integrity, enthusiasm, and a commitment to making a positive impact.
Each of these students has shown outstanding dedication to their studies, extracurricular activities, and service to the College. Throughout the election process, they impressed us with their vision, leadership skills, and desire to contribute to the wellbeing and success of their fellow students. Their hard work and dedication have earned them, their peers’ and teachers’ trust and support.
Year 12 prefects will take on various responsibilities, from organising school events, to serving as role models for younger students and promoting a positive school environment. This group is passionate about creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere at our school, and they’re eager to foster school spirit and encourage student involvement in all aspects of school life.
Welcome to The Hive - Josh Morcombe from Headspace/Youth Focus
We are excited to introduce Josh as the newest member of our Student Services team!
Josh believes in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every student feels valued, heard, and empowered. Whether it’s improving mental health, relationships, accommodation issues, living away from home, goal setting, or career discussions, Josh is happy to listen and offer advice. Josh will be at the College on Tuesdays.
Families and carers can refer a young person to see Josh if they wish. The young person must be aware of and consent to the referral, and be willing to meet with Josh. The Student Services team coordinates this process.
Transition Out
Transition Out was conducted during Week 1 of this term. Students participated in several social and educational activities before saying farewell on Friday 11th October. The program came about after Student Service staff spoke with past Year 12 students about their thoughts on leaving school and the associated challenges and changes they were facing. It was great to see the comradery that has been developed with staff over the last 3 years. Several students participated in the workshops that were offered. The session that focused on renting, presented by Ray White Denmark, was very well received by students, as was the discussion around accessing government services and benefits, delivered by Petra Thompson from the Denmark Community Resource Centre.
We wish our Year 12 students every success in their future endeavours and look forward to saying a final farewell at our Awards Ceremony on Friday 15th November.
