Issue 8 2023 - Old Collegians
Hi everyone,
It seems like it was just a couple of weeks ago that I wrote the last segment for the newsletter. Aren’t the weeks flying by? Mike Martin and myself attended the Graduation ceremony at the college on the 17th November. The George Elliott Memorial Scholarship was presented by Melanie Constable to recipient Jordan Proctor. Jordan has written a thank you letter to the association. He is a Denmark boy whose family farm has been a long time venture. His grandfather, Ron, went to the Ag School in 1949-1950. His grandmother, Jessie Proctor, was employed at the school from 1958 to1959.
Jordan is dedicated to all aspects of farming while his main hobby is breeding heritage chickens. At the recent Albany Show he achieved eight 1st places, nine 2nd places and a ribbon for the best plate of eggs. His other attributes include his engineering skills such as mechanics and welding. We congratulate Jordan on his achievements and wish him all the very best for the future.
We welcome Aidan Lavin as a Life Member of the association, who will have his name added to the gazebo shortly. To the left is the photo of the 9 past students from 1953-1954. The ABC’s report of the 70 year event can be seen via the button below.
There is a proposal to change the name of the association to something which may have more meaning for younger students. Look out for more information on this. Meanwhile, on behalf of all of us old Aggies, wives, partners and families, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year.
As always - get your name on the honour wall - contact us to have your name added. Contacts are: Wendy Sutton 0419 048 694; Marjorie Morrison 9848 1633; Delys Ravenhill 0427 408 051 or myself 0428 526 398, email: hisylvi@bigpond.com.
News from all years of the College are always welcome.
Cheers,
Don McCausland
