Open Day

Open Day at the College is a reminder of the fabulous facility we have. Students, staff and the activities offered on the day were amazing. Thanks for all the lovely feedback and for those that participated in the event. The turnout from the community was wonderful and we appreciate the support.

Old Collegians

The Old Collegians were on site during Open Day and it presented an opportunity for ex-students to maintain a connection with the College. Many have amazing stories to share of their experiences at the College, as well as their journeys after they left. Further attempts will exist in the future to encourage ex-students to either re-connect or stay connected to old peers and the college.

Subject Selections for 2025

Students in Year 10 are being surveyed to ascertain their preferences on our timetable, as well as preferred subjects to include in our offerings. Feedback from students and parents in regards to timetable changes is (and has been) appreciated. We have also had the advantage to see what trialled changes have worked through 2024 and those that require further tweaking.

Our Career Education program has been delivered to all Year 10 students this term. Students recently completed a Career Voyage Job Matching activity to ascertain some potential job interests.

Parent involvement in the subject selection process and the conversations around this will be essential in order for students to make some informed decisions regarding their Senior School Pathway. Year 10 students will soon receive further information about the options available for Year 11 in 2025.

A brief parent information session covering important information about Senior School at WACOA - Denmark will be held on Friday 30th August at 3.00pm. This will be held in the Lecture Theatre. A Power Point presentation outlining the key points will be sent to families who are unable to attend in person.

Following this will be a subject selection meeting involving parents. This will be either done face to face or over the phone from Monday 2nd September - Friday 13th September. Information about making bookings for these sessions will be sent soon.

Primary School Awareness

On Monday 5th August 2024, 10.00am - 1.30pm, the WA College of Agriculture-Denmark held the annual Primary School Agricultural Awareness day at the College. This day is aimed specifically at upper primary level and over 300 primary school students attended. As an introduction to Agriculture, this is an informative, interesting and fun day for students.

The main aims of the day were to:

  • Showcase some of the many activities associated with Agriculture.

  • Improve awareness of the importance of Agriculture as an industry.

  • Understand the importance of food and fibre production.

  • Learn about the bio-security issues that can adversely affect agricultural production.

  • Create awareness of the wide variety of careers associated with Agriculture.

  • Showcase the role of Agricultural education.

Thanks to all the Farm staff and Year 12 students who provided information to our primary school guests throughout the day.

A busy environment

Aside from the Yr 10 subject selection process, the coming weeks will be very busy.

Thanks to Ms Wolter for coordinating the Senior First Aid Course for Year 11 students – it is an important program for young people to engage in, particularly due to our varying workplace environments.

Students who need to sit their On-Line Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) will do so in the first week of September. It would be important that all students needing to sit this assessment are on site (week 8 of this term).

Year 12 ATAR students are doing final preparations for their Mock ATAR exams and we wish them success in this. The SIDE ATAR Mock Exams will occur in the last week of this term and the school based MOCK ATAR exams will occur in the first week of Term 4. Our school psychologist, Abigail Fretwell, is running some study skills sessions with students to support them during this time. These are also running with Yr 11 ATAR students.

The Royal Show is coming up soon and students will be working hard to ensure they are competitive and successful in their efforts.
